How to Record Your Presentation
**If the screen on the control box is black, just hold your finger on it for a few seconds
1.      On the control box touch-screen, touch
2. While waiting, open the bottom right cabinet door and insert videotape in the Sony VCR*.  Also, take out the leftmost black pouch on the bottom shelf.  This is the microphone.  Without this, your voice will not be recorded on the tape.
*The Speaking Center does have a reusable tape available with which you may practice.  Please remember that anything taped on this will be recorded over.
3.Take the microphone out of the pouch, and press the arrows on both sides while pulling upward to open the battery compartment. Matching the + and – symbols, insert a 9V battery.  Turn the switch on the top of the microphone box to “on,” and look at the lights to determine the battery life; if the light is red, use another battery and throw the dead one away (please!).  You may attach the microphone and box to your clothing if you plan to walk around, or leave  it on the podium where you are speaking.
4.Look into the same cabinet at the screen on the VCR.  If the sound is working, on the left side of the screen  there will be two grey bars moving up and down, indicating your voice volume.  To raise and lower the microphone volume, on the right side of the control box touch-screen, press the arrow on   indicating the volume of your choice.

 

 

5. On the ‘RECORD MONITOR’ (the little black screen above this control box on the     speaker’s console), push the ‘Power’ switch (on the right side) to the ‘ON’ position.
6. On the control box touch-screen, touch .
7.  Touch  and use the CAMERA CONTROL panel to tilt the camera and zoom in and out until it is focused on you at the podium, or if you wish to walk around, zoom out so you will be recorded.
8.   On the RECORD VCR panel, touch
9. Touch   . 
10. Touch.
11. Begin your presentation.
12. When finished presenting, on the screen touch.
13. You may rewind and review your recording using the same set of buttons containing the ‘STOP’ button.
14. To record over, rewind and begin again at step 8.  
15. When you are done using the A/V System, touch .  Take the battery out of the microphone box and put   the battery and microphone box into the pouch, then replace the pouch in the cabinet. 
16. DON’T FORGET YOUR TAPE! If you used a tape belonging to the Speaking Center, please put it back where it  came from after you review it.
